Who buys LIDARs?
Our clients are mainly research centres, academic institutions and meteorological organizations. However over the last few years our clients have begun to come increasingly from within the private sector, as LIDAR technology becomes more well known as a solution to common problems in industry.
The applications for atmospheric LIDARs are extremely varied. These include:
- Volcanic ash detection
- Cloud mapping (e.g. for scientific purposes or as "scanning ceilometers" for airports)
- Fog detection (e.g. for airports)
- Visibility measuring (e.g. Visual Ranger for airports which provides Slant Visual Range)
- Pollution tracking (e.g. for industrial pollution/aerosol monitoring)
- Dust tracking (e.g. for mining applications)
- Wildfire detecting (early warning system with alarms)
Raymetrics is able to provide LIDARs for all of the above applications - and many more. See the Applications tab for some of the standardised systems we provide for different purposes.

Partnerships
Through partnerships Raymetrics is able to augment its products with several other types of atmospheric LIDARs. These include wind doppler LIDARs for both the troposphere and stratosphere.
Raymetrics is also a distributor of OWIS Optical Beam Handling Systems and Positioning Systems.
